Written by Brian Byrne and Kasey Jones, this haunting new song tells the tale of a young woman who sets out on Women’s Christmas to meet her love, but never arrives. Like its companion piece “Sionnan” — also written by Byrne and Jones and featured on Celtic Woman’s 20th Anniversary album — it’s steeped in Irish storytelling and themes of love, loss, and transformation. In Nollaig na mBan, the young woman is reimagined as Winter’s Daughter, her spirit carried on the wind, in the voices of carols, and through the turning of the seasons.
